Specifically designed to be a plug and play solution for the 6A13TT engine, this wiring harness allows you to upgrade the factory shared coil packs for new R8 Coils.

Why Upgrade?

Genuine Coil Pack stocks appear to be out of production and the cost of replacing them is significant for such an outdated product. There are non-genuine options available, however we don't recommend them due to various quality issues that have arisen, and consistent ignition is critical to the health of a turbocharged engine.

Genuine Bosch Audi R8 specification coils are widely used in the aftermarket performance world due to their strong spark and availability globally at reasonable prices. They significantly outperform the factory specification coils.

These harnesses have been installed on various Galants and Legnums which have seen better starting ignition, smoother idle, and more spark under increased boost levels.

Which option should you choose?

We have 2 options for our coil harnesses, Standard & Hybrid.

Standard harnesses use 6 x Bosch R8 Coils.

Hybrid harnesses use 3 x NGK 5002 Coils for the front bank, and 3 x Bosch R8 Coils for the rear bank.

The Hybrid option is necessary if you have a factory engine cover installed, as the R8 coils sit higher in the front bank, but flush in the rear bank, due to the height of the rocker cover to spark plug being different on each bank. (Please see product images)

Wiring pinouts for the NGK 5002 are different from the Bosch R8, therefore when using a Hybrid Harness, you must use 3 x NGK 5002 on the front and 3 x Bosch R8 on the rear.

Installation is plug and play with the addition of the added ground wire for noise suppression.

The NGK 5002 Coils perform just as well for this purpose, although are pricier than the Bosch R8 Coils. Newer coils with higher output will draw more power than previously. The original Ignition Fail Sensor may no longer be reliable and we suggest bypassing it using an IFS bypass cable that picks up the tacho signal from the crank sensor and also plugs into the original harness in place of the IFS sensor. Please see our listing for this item.

Installation and compatibility

Installation requires no additional hardware.

We don't supply coils with our harnesses as we encourage you to purchase them locally to save on shipping costs.

We strongly recommend pairing this with our IFS Delete Harness, in order to ensure that higher output coils don't conflict with the Ignition Fail Sensor, which is prone to faults.

Please ensure you have checked compatibility of parts before ordering, and contact us with any questions you may have.
