This kit replaces the 4 individual coil grounding wires on the MQB Platform with a dedicated grounding harness.
Why Upgrade?
The original method for grounding ignition coils on this platform is inherently flawed, relying on providing the necessary contact via bolt thread in the alloy cylinder head.
The factory bolts use a triangular thread (less overall thread contact) which are intended to provide resistance to backing out, but also require more torque to tighten and increase the risk of stripping the thread.
None of this is an issue for a vehicle fresh out of the factory, however when factoring in the removal / installation of ignition coils throughout regular servicing, this grounding method will produce significant wear on the threads and overall grounding consistency.
Our solution is to use a dedicated grounding harness, which provides a shared point for the ignition coils directly to the primary grounding stud in the engine bay.
This ensures that your ignition coils will always provide a strong spark under high boost, while also simplifying servicing.

We make all harnesses ourselves in Australia, with quality TXL wire, they are sheathed in our Bayside Pro Braid, providing high heat and abrasion resistance in your engine bay, while also looking professional and tidily tucking away with the custom designed 3D printed clip.
This kit includes
Pre-terminated and sheathed coil grounding harness
3D Printed Securing Clip
Ignition coil connector terminal removal tool
4mm Allen / Hex key
4 x stainless steel bolts
4 x stainless steel washers
